Clean Products that Work
I would hate to know how much money I have spent over the years trying to find products with cleaner ingredients that are also effective.
Once I learned that our personal care products are full of ingredients linked to cancer, problems with hormones, skin, the brain, immunity, thyroid, and so much more, I could not unknow it. So many ingredients allowed to be used in the U.S. are banned in other countries because of their known toxicity.
The manufacturers of the products are allowed to regulate themselves. The FDA basically leaves it to them because they say they are too busy. (Which is why “FDA approved” means absolutely nothing to me!).
When you are trying to heal or lose weight, you always want to look at your toxic load and since 80% of what we put on our skin is absorbed into our body, the quality of your personal care products is important.
I actually enjoy researching products and ingredients but I have found that my clients don’t. They appreciate it when I am able to give them some options that have already been researched.
Does that sound like you?
I currently have a line up that I am loving so I wanted to share them with you. I have no affiliation to these companies, I just love their products. I will still link the products to make it easier for you!
First up is deodorant. It is arguably the hardest to find because many of the natural brands just don’t cover the stink!
If you are not aware, many deodorants/antiperspirants contain aluminum which is known to cause cancer. They also contain lots of fragrances that are made of horrible ingredients.
Primally Pure is pretty much my new BFF in the personal care space and their deodorant does not disappoint. What I love it:
Made in the USA
Certified organic ingredients
Sourced from family owned farms when possible
Uses essential oils
I use the tea tree blend. There is absolutely no stink at the end of the day or after a workout.
While we are talking about Primally Pure products, let’s continue on with the cleansing oil. I have mostly normal skin but it can get a bit dry occasionally. My face also seems to be where I show any type of detoxing or hormonal imbalances. I am really loving their cleansing oil. They actually recommend using the oil and then their cleansing bar for a 2 step process but I am currently only using the oil and it is working out well for me. I definitely feel like my face gets clean and looks way more hydrated.
After I wash my face I follow up with Primally Pure moisturizer. I have tried a couple blends but the plumping moisturizer seems to be the best fit for my skin. I use it morning and night and can tell it keeps the red down.
Let’s move on to hair. Now this is an area that I have struggled with. I spent many years loving my Olaplex shampoo and conditioner. I’ve tried many different brands and finally landed with Loma. Loma is also made in the USA and is free of all the things (paraben, sodium chloride, gluten, soy, phthalate, & sulfate). It also includes essential oil based fragrances.
I feel like it does just as good of a job as my Olaplex did and I still go 3-4 days between washes, easily.
Now those in between wash days…back to Primally Pure. Their dry shampoo is awesome! It is a shaker vs. a spray which I thought might bother me, but it has been fine. I do buy the blend for dark hair. I’d say if your hair is anything but very light blonde, go for the dark hair blend. I can use the dry shampoo multiple days in a row without getting buildup.
Hopefully this doesn’t sound like a commercial for Primally Pure but I have just found that their products work.
If you have brands you love and want to see how the ingredients stack up, use the Environmental Working Group’s website to search by brand or ingredient. It will give you a rating and also let you know what ingredients are concerning.
